Master carver Dore Skidmore, in her own unique style, starts with a piece of bass wood about the thickness of a slice of bread.  Where most carvers would use wood that is 2-3” thick, Dore, with her tiny chisels, carves an incredible amount of depth in an extremely thin medium.  This requires a high degree of perfection. Using the same perspective that an artist might use in oil painting, her carvings take on the added dimension of the cut so that a beautiful piece of art emerges, and the process for the Woodgraph-sculpted print begins.

Bob and John Yike, the father and son team, who developed the print making process, have thrown out all the rules in bringing you woodgraph-sculpted prints. By using time-honored methods in new ways, we are able to capture the intricate details of the original carving. In each woodgraph is then hand stained with a high-grade oil stain, bringing the print to the warm richness of the wood original.

With a New Orleans color palatte, our painting artists bring out the texture of the Vieux Carre captured in Dore’s original carving. In addition, our subtle brush strokes breathe life into your limited edition woodgraph. Your work of art is then custom framed in a profile specially chosen to display your scene.

Continuing the dream of our founder, the late Sylvia K. Yike, we bring you Woodgraph-sculpted prints with a uniqueness the same as the city that inspired them. It is our vision to help you savor your New Orleans experience with your very own woodgraph. In your home it will create a lifetime of visual pleasure and fond memories of New Orleans.
